Che!

Che Guevara Part 1, was based on the events that took place during the Cuba revolution.  Che was depicted as a righteous leader fighting for the rights of Cubans, at the time Cuba was being run by a dictator who had close ties to the American Government.  Che had love for the men fighting with him, the people they passed and helped along the way, and Latin America as a whole.  He was not cuban but was well respected throughout the revolution and sought to bring the rights back to the people in all of Latin America.  Che said the most important quality a revolutionary needs in love this was evident throughout his actions in the film.
Che had met Fidal Castro in Mexico where they began their revolutionary training together.  The were being taught with both fighting techniques and Marxist literature.  Prior to their meeting Che was merely on a vacation in Mexico but that quickly changed once he began to become a disciplined revolutionary.  Soon after the Mexican Authorities found out about their training, the United States instantly connected them with communism (Zolo 269).  The connection with communism was an instant black label to the revolutionaries because you were either for the west or against it.  The would make Che and the revolutionaries against the West and all their counterparts, which accounted for much more resistance and support from other countries.  Often they were depicted as these ruthless guerrilla warriors fighting to destroy the world by infiltrating communism.  Che wanted to bring the power back to the people which is a foundation of democracy but was quickly construed to be communism.
In Che's address to Tricontinental, he quickly states how the United States is seen as the savior while they were imposing imperialistic ideals all over the world.  Lives were both lost in Korea and Vietnam for a cause that was not of nor for the people living in that country but rather for the United States Government not just their military.  He mentions the greater part of Asia and the Middle East both of which are countries controlled by the money given by the United States.  Africa was dominated by the European imperialist who were liberated but only for a short period of time because these western countries will only let the liberation go so far until they need to tighten their control again.
Che was not just fighting for Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, or Bolivia he was fighting for all of Latin America in gaining back their rights, property, and prosperity from the imperialist United States.  He wanted to end the relationship with the United States so these countries could concentrate on bring prosperity back to their people and not away from their country.  He was fighting a much bigger war than just in Latin America because so many countries around the world were and still are controlled and heavily influenced by the United States, its corporations, and its government.  Che believed his revolt could only be achieved through military intervention.  The people that followed him were educated and fought because they believed in the same ideals and were going to give their lives for a greater good.  He was a guerilla fighter which could be construed as heartless and ruthless but he was passionate about his people and his cause which drew people to him.
